Multidetector CT of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms1

چکیده
Thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAAs) can be broadly divided into true aneurysms and false aneurysms (pseudoaneurysms). True aneurysms contain all three layers of the aortic wall (intima, media, and adventitia), whereas false aneurysms have fewer than three layers and are contained by the adventitia or periadventitial tissues. Multidetector computed tomographic (CT) angiography allows the comprehensive evaluation of TAAs in terms of morphologic features and extent, presence of thrombus, relationship to adjacent structures and branches, and signs of impending or acute rupture, and is routinely used in this setting. Knowledge of the causes, significance, imaging appearances, and potential complications of both common and uncommon aortic aneurysms, as well as of the normal postoperative appearance of the thoracic aorta, is essential for prompt and accurate diagnosis. Pseudoaneurysm of the mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa following aortic valve replacement - diagnosis and dynamic evaluation with multidetector CT and transesophageal echocardiography.
Sixteen-slice multidetector CT findings of a pulsatile pseudoaneurysm of the mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa, in a woman following aortic valve replacement, are presented. Multidetector CT depicted the pseudoaneurysm and enabled dynamic evaluation of its lumen through the cardiac cycle, documenting expansion during systole and almost complete collapse during diastole. This case illustrates ...
متن کاملThoracic aortic stent-grafts: utility of multidetector CT for pre- and postprocedure evaluation.
Indications for and experience with placement of endovascular stent-grafts in the thoracic aorta are still evolving. Common pathologic conditions of the thoracic aorta that are amenable to stent placement include penetrating ulcers, aortic dissection, aortic aneurysms, aortic rupture, and congenital abnormalities. Advances in multidetector computed tomography (CT) permit high-quality two-dimens...
متن کاملAcute Aortic Syndrome Presents with Chest Pain
Acute aortic syndrome can be due to acute aortic dissection, intramural hematoma, penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer, or unstable thoracic aneurysm. These life-threatening conditions are clinically indistinguishable, often presenting with acute chest pain. Contrast-enhanced, cardiac-gated multidetector computed tomography (CT) is a highly accurate imaging method for determining the cause of acut...
متن کاملMultidetector Computed Tomography Angiography Findings of Chronic-Contained Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysm Rupture with Severe Thoracal Vertebral Body Erosion
Chronic-contained aortic aneurysm rupture with vertebral erosion is a rare entity with fatal complications. Multidetector computed tomography (CT) angiography is an important diagnostic method for the evaluation of the aortic aneurysms, their complications, and also the relationship between aneurysm and branching vessels and adjacent structures. We present the multidetector CT angiography findi...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to report multidetector computed tomography (CT) imaging findings relating to segmental pulmonary arterial ectasia (PAE), which is a very rare vascular condition. CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION A 70-year-old woman presented with shortness of breath and increased production of purulent sputum. Chest CT angiography revealed bronchiectasis secondary to...
